Cleanup at Oakland!

On Saturday, April 14th, 2018, the Cranston Historic Cemetery Commission (CHCC) will be hosting their first cleanup event of the year at Oakland Cemetery (1569 Broad St) to celebrate Rhode Island Historic Cemetery Restoration and Awareness day. This recognition was established by RI House Resolution 7203, and has become an annual event where all of Rhode Island's 39 cities and towns do their part to help out their local cemeteries.

Oakland Cemetery has been one of the CHCC's top priorities due to its prominence and the massive amount of work that remains to be done there. In the past year, significant strides have been made and we hope to do even better this year! Please join us at 9am and stay all morning as we pick up trash, cut back overgrowth, straighten and upright stones, and show some much needed TLC to this cemetery that means so much to so many. We hope to see you there!
